Last week, we celebrated Indonesia’s Independence Day. In that moment, we gathered our students to stand before Indonesian flag and sing our national anthem “Indonesia Raya”. The event even more exciting and joyful as they played various games and showed their creativity by decorating a bicycle with Indonesian theme attributes. Our little learners had the opportunity to appreciate our nationality, culture and the spirit of togetherness.

Indonesian culture is a rich mix of traditions from over 300 ethnic groups spread across thousands of islands. Guided by the national motto “Bhinneka Tunggal Ika” (Unity in Diversity), the country blends local customs, art, and daily community values into a unique national identity.

Children can learn culture naturally through art, music, traditional games, stories, movement and hands-on activities.

Through these activities, children are not only creating beautiful artwork but also learning that every culture has its own unique identity and story.

When children do the kuda lumping painting and dancing, their shared experience can become a meaningful cultural learning moment. By bringing Indonesian culture into children’s everyday learning through art and play, we can nurture young learners who appreciate their heritage and celebrate the wonderful diversity of Indonesia.
